Introduction/Preface

This is the first part in an installment of a Trip Report on Star Alliance carriers using US Airway miles to Hong Kong via San Francisco, Frankfurt and Bangkok on the outbound. Then, it is a quick 3 day trip to Tokyo via Seoul and returning from Tokyo via Washington DC.  The regional Hong Kong flight to China and back is on DragonAir (OneWorld Cathay Pacific Affiliate) using British Airways 18,000 Adios Avios points in Business Class.  The Star Alliance trip in First Class costs 120,000 US Airways Dividend Miles.

For the 1 night in Hong Kong, I stayed at the Marriott SkyCity located by Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport.  My hotel for my stay in Tokyo was the Conrad located in the Shindome District in the heart Tokyo.  The one night Marriott stay redemption came from my Chase Marriott Premier credit card sign up bonus of 1 free night certificate at a Category 1-4 hotel.  The 3 nights stay at the Tokyo Conrad hotel redemption came from a combination of using 2 Free Nights at Any Property certificates earned in the 2011 Q4 Hilton promotion and the last night being 50,000 Hilton HHonors Points redemption.  It took place between January 18th. 2012 to February 8, 2012.
