First Class on Thai Airways FRA-BKK

Thai Airways 923 FRA-BKK  Boeing 777 (leased from Jet Airways)
Wednesday
, January 19
Depart: 8:55PM  Arrive: 1:05PM +1 Day
Duration: 10hr10min
Seat: 2A (First Class)

I was warmly greeted by the purser/inflight manager and by the two flight attendants working my cabin.  We had headphones, amenity kits, and slippers waiting in our suites and were offered pajamas later.  I was given a choice between the purple medium and large sizes.  I went with the medium as the large hangs too loose on me the last time I got it.  I actually preferred a blue one but that is given on the inbound day flight.  My flight attendant managed to find one for me and swapped out the blue one for my purple one.  I was given champagne for a pre-departure drink along with the menus for the flight.

The inflight manager offered to show me how to work the suite controls but I let him know that I had flown on this new aircraft on their Paris-Bangkok route previously.  He let me store my roll-on board bag in a “special location” aka Suite 2D as it was unoccupied during the flight (along with 2G).

The flight attendant took my dinner order and my first 2 choices of the duck and the chicken was not available.  I could only get the lamb or fish as my dinner choices.  I inquired to see if I could have the pork noodle soup that I wanted for breakfast to be served as my main course instead.  The inflight manager came by later to apologize that my first 2 choices were not available and told me that they would be happy to serve my noodle soup as my dinner main course.

I immediately changed into my pajamas after we took off from Frankfurt Airport and the seat belt sign went off.  Dinner started off immediately and we had mixed nuts to start.  Next, we had canapés and it went nicely with my Coke Light.

This flight did not feature a salad course probably due to the late scheduled departure out of Frankfurt but I had my own basket of assorted breads.  The table was huge and they set up the plates and dishware all nicely with care.

The appetizer offered was a lobster and shrimp combo and later, caviar was served from the cart with side choices of egg whites, egg yolks, lemon, onions, and sour cream.  I was offered vodka but instead went with water.  I could not finish the appetizers but I did eat most of my main course of pork noodles.

The dessert featured a selection fruits (pineapple, kiwi, strawberry, and grapes) and cheeses served from the cart.  Later, I enjoyed a coconut cheesecake along with a few cups of green tea.

After dinner, I was offered a turn down service where the flight attendants made my seat into a bed and gave me a thicker blanket.  She also provided chocolates and bottled water.  While they did that, I went to walk around to see the Business cabin and chat with some of their flight attendants.  They gave me the menu for both Business and Economy class when I requested it and I got to sample to lemongrass drink.  I had a good speaking with them and also praising them for their renowned great Thai Airlines service/awards they received.  All of the crew members were very attentive and took really good care of me.  They did everything they could to accommodate me on the flight and to make my flight experience the best it could be.

I asked some of the flight attendants working the Business class for the menus in the Business class and economy class as a souvenir (and they gladly retrieved them for me).

I went to sleep after that and had about 3-4 hours of sleep and woke up feeling refreshed about 2 hours prior to landing.  For breakfast, I got to enjoy 2 servings of chicken satay served satay with peanut sauce and cucumbers.  I had mentioned to the Business Class flight attendants that I loved satay and was a bit disappointed that First Class did not serve it.  They told me that they would be have to get me some if I wanted it and that was what I had for breakfast.  Then I also had a cinnamon roll and bread stick from my personal bread basket.  Then I had the bowl of fruit and followed it up with a cup of coffee.  I knew that The First Class lounge awaited me when I land in Bangkok so I did not want to go overboard.

When the flight was approaching Bangkok, I changed out of my pajamas and put my belongings up. The cabin crew members each came by to thank me for flying with them and that they hope to see me again on another Thai Airways flight.

After landing at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport, all of us in the First Class cabin were picked up on golf carts.  We were divided into 2 groups with 3 passengers connecting onto a domestic flight in one cart and me plus one other passenger connecting to another international flight.  My escort drove us to the security re-clearance point and took us to the First Class Lounge.
